Fall Display Removed

Early this morning our Fall Display at the waterfall was removed by Bud Daggett. This display was to brighten the park area during a recent tv shoot and to help promote the state wide game The Great American Moose Hunt. We are sad to see it removed but banners will reappear in other areas to keep people actively playing the game and to announce the upcoming Moose Fest nexy May. Future plans for displays are up in the air, but our group will make sure that Montello has something for everyone to see as they drive through our great town. It was recentluy said that 35,000 cars drive through here every day, we need to give them a good reason to stop and check us out.   Have a safe and Happy Halloween

On Monday, October 19th, Madison's WBUW-TV, Channel 57, sent a camera crew, along with morning television personality Emmy Fink, to tape a segment on The Great American Moose Hunt. This segment will be aired during the morning news program known as The Daily Buzz. They have a special segment called "Buzzed into Madison", which features businesses, and various cities and towns, in the Madison viewing area. During her visit we discussed how "The Great American Moose Hunt" is working to strengthen the economy throughout Montello- and the rest of Wisconsin. "The Great American Moose Hunt" is basically a state-wide scavenger hunt whose goal is to get more fisherman, hunters, shoppers, and other tourists to visit smaller shops and smaller towns throughout the entire state. When they visit participating shops, they are given a "Moose Hunt" ticket. If they make a purchase, that ticket is worth double! The more tickets someone accumulates, the better their chance of winning some pretty great prizes.

Emmy had a chance to interview Steve Krueger, the nationally syndicated cartoonist who started the Moose Hunt. The Moose Hunt is themed after the characters in his cartoon, " Moose Lake". Emmy took a ride around town to see for herself just how Montello was playing and how this game is affecting the local businesses. Emmy found the town decorated for fall and the businesses she stopped at were more than happy to explain the Moose Hunt and how it is helping all the participating businesses, from taverns and gift shops to garden centers and beauty shops. We all benefit from sharing our customers. The great fall decorations that Emmy was able to film were donated by Mary Jean Reading and Mike Zabel from the Badgerland Produce Co-Op, and made for a lovely backdrop for her story.

The Hunt is On...

what are YOU waiting for. Visitors from all over are flocking to the Wisconsin towns participating in The Great American Moose Hunt. Why? For the chance to win some very neat prizes. The concept is quite simple, visit each participating business, collect a ticket at each stop, ( double value is you make a purchase) and those who collect the most tickets by July 31st of 2010 will win. Not only can you have a chance at some really nice prizes but think of the great places you will find along the way.

Grab a friend or the family, get in the car, take a look at the great colors as the leaves change and come out and visit us in Montello. Then continue on and visit the other great towns involved in this event.

This has been yet another great weekend in Montello.  The weather has been perfect and The Great American Moose Hunt is well under way. Saturday I handed out 43 tickets, so that sends those 43 people to all the other shops in town and then off to the other participating towns and shops to see all the great places in the hunt! What alot of fun. People can discover all the great little shops, cafes, etc. all over Wisconsin. Just in time for the changing of the leaves and some holiday shopping. If you are not sure where to start near where you live check out The Great American Moose Hunt
Work is under way to get the shop fronts decorated for next weeks Harvest Fest. great fun, brats of course, some shopping specials and crafters, fresh produce and surprises are under way!  I am handing out tickets for a chance to win a train set to all who bring in a non perishable food item for the Care and Share Food Bank of Marquette County on Sept. 19th and 20th.

Harvest Fest and The Great American Moose Hunt

The leaves are beginning to change and that makes this the perfect time to go on The Great American Moose Hunt. What a fun idea to find and visit so many special places throughout Marquette County and the rest of Wisconsin.

The timing for this seems perfect! Harvest Fest is Sept. 19th and 20th right in downtown Montello . There you can find 9 Moose tickets and a few just down the road. Crafters, food, shopping specials and MOOSE HUNT TICKETS !!!! Join us for some fun and enjoy the fall scenery. From fresh produce and fall decorations to that perfect Christmas gift for the early shoppers to scenic bike trails and a canoe or kayak ride. Montello has it all ...fun for ALL seasons !

How do you play? All you have to do is visit the participating businesses (see Where to Hunt) and pick up a free Moose Lake ticket. That's it! Each business has it's own unique Moose Lake ticket. The more unique tickets (with no duplicates) you have at the end of the hunt (July 31, 2010), the better your chances to win. Plus, attach a sales receipt from that business you picked up the ticket from, and the tickets' value doubles... it's now worth 2 tickets. It doesn't get any easier!

Mega-Moose Ticket: "Find the Cartoonist"! That's right folks, find Steve Krueger (the cartoonist of Moose Lake) at a retailer and receive the Mega-Moose Ticket worth 20 tickets instead of that retailer's normal ticket. When making a purchase or adding a Moose Receipt with the Mega-Moose Ticket it will double to 40 tickets! The Mega-Moose Ticket can be turned in for the final count along with that retailers normal ticket also! "Find the Cartoonist" dates and locations can be found right here and will be updated as needed.
